Westport Inn to Host
2018 Taste of Westport

Westport, Conn. (June x, 2017) - - Nora Gomez, general manager of the Westport Inn today announced that the classic New England hotel on historic Post Road will again host the annual Taste of Westport fundraiser benefitting Clasp Home, an organization that creates and supports family environments for people with autism and intellectual disabilities on May 3, 2018. The 2017 event, held May 4 at the Westport Inn, set a new fundraising record for Clasp Home and drew 300 people and 22 local restaurants and vendors. Since the event’s inception in 2004, the annual effort, held on the first Thursday in May, has raised more than $500,000. “To be successful, events like these require a lot of donated resources,” said Robin Hammond, development director, Clasp Home. “2017 was our best event ever and we are thankful to Nora and the Westport Inn for supporting us from the very start by giving us the use of their lovely ballroom. Every year we are awestruck by the way the community rises for the occasion”

“Taste of Westport showcases the best of our town for the benefit of a homegrown charity that assists our own neighbors,” noted Gomez. “We’re thankful that we can make a meaningful contribution to such a great, local event.” According to Hammond, the 2018 Taste of Westport event is already in the planning stages, with the addition of a celebrity chef a distinct possibility. “We have no firm commitments yet, but we want to keep it fresh and interesting and think that this would be an excellent way to attract new guests.” The Westport Inn is located just one hour from Manhattan, and minutes from Norwalk, Fairfield and Bridgeport with easy access to Interstate 95, the Merritt Parkway, Levitt Pavilion, Sherwood Island State Park, Compo Beach, Fairfield and Sacred Heart Universities.
